Supporting you and your well-being during these challenging times

Equipment Pilates Studio

New in Summer 2021 we have launched our new equipment Pilates studio, based at our main premises in Denne Parade.

Over several months we fitted out this studio with a range of equipment which will allow you to experience this great form of Pilates in small-group sessions, or one-to-ones or one-to-two basis. Our instructors have completed advanced training to support you in completing a bespoke programme which will help with overall movement, strength, and stability. In many ways this is a focus on the original Pilates; when Joseph Pilates created this system of exercise it was based around the use of equipment. so it's fantastic to introduce this into Total Therapy Studios to supplement our matwork classes.

Building on the range of small portable equipment such as resistance bands, magic circles and weights, we've the core range of larger equipment too. This includes reformers, cadillacs, barrels and chairs, along with with a weight tower to create a great environment for exercise - all under the guidance and focus of our expert instructors.

We're proud to offer different ways to attend too, and we have briefly outlined these below.

Building on the classes that we're well known for, we're offering small group sessions which will be scheduled in the same way as our normal classes. With a maximum of three people per class, these feature on our regular timetable and can be booked via our online class management system. You can also buy a pack of passes, which specifically allow you to attend these classes.

Whilst our group sessions are a great way to exercise, we are also offering one-to-one sessions too. In these, you'll get the individual attention from your instructor to ensure that you're delivering the exercises correctly. We also offer bespoke one-to-two sessions as well, if you'd like to specifically book a session with you and a friend. Please note that like in many equipment studios, there may be another one-to-one session taking place at the same time with another client and instructor using the studio at the same time.

Why Equipment Pilates?

Ultimately the Pilates system of exercise is based around resistance. When doing Pilates on a mat or using Pilates equipment the amount of resistance and tension can often vary. This is due to either the body position, or use of small apparatus such as bands. However, by using a reformer, cadillac, weight stack, or other equipment this can be consistently regulated. We know that some of the equipment that we use might resemble something from a torture chamber, however everything is designed to create planes of movement within which you can complete the exercises.

The adjustable levels of resistance mean that you can work with your instructor to progress your exercise in a very consistent way, ensuring a discipline of movement, and clearly demonstable improvements. There are over 500 documented exercises on the reformer alone, and with different variations of each of these in terms of position and resistance it's possible to tailor your exercise almost infinitely to create the right session for you.
Group Sessions

The best way to experience Equipment Pilates is via one of our small-group sessions. This means - like our regular classes - you'll be taking part in a class with a maximum of three people. It meant that you can all work together under the guidance of one of our expert instructors, and will each work on your own bespoke programme.

These sessions are bookable via our online class management system, which gives you ultimate flexiblity around when to attend.

You can pay for the sessions either on a pay-as-you-go basis, or to make things easier and more efficient you can also buy a six pack of equipment studio passes. More details on the prices page.
One-to-one sessions

If you're looking for a deeper and more focused experience, then why not book up for a one-to-one session with one of our instructors. During this session they will be able to give you 100% focus, using their expansive knowledge to ensure that you progress.

Please note, like many Equipment Pilates studios, there may be another one-to-one session happening in the studio at the same time

If you'd like to check on availablitly for one-to-one sessions then simply give our reception a call, and we'll connect you with your chosen instructor so we can book you in at a time that works.
Two-to-one sessions

(per person)

By popular demand! We know that sometimes exercise is more fun if you complete it with someone you know. Therefore we have made provision for two-to-one sessions, where you and a friend can enjoy the focus of one of our instructors. The benefits of these sessions are simply that you can relax into the time spent in the studio, encouraging each other as you improve.

Please note that these sessions rely on you both attending. If one of you is unable to come and cancels within 24 hours, then a £20 cancellatin charge will be incurred. Your partner then has two choices, either to come (and pay the price of a one-to-one), or cancel the session. Please note that this too will incur a cancellation charge as above.

Booking an induction

To make sure you're safe in the studio it's absolutely vital that clients have a one-to-one induction session before attending a group class, one-to-one, or one-to-two session with us. Please get in contact with us so we can find an availablity for you, just like a normal appointment. The induction session lasts about an hour, and normally costs £55, however for a limited time we're offering these individual inductions at just £35, so why not book us as soon as you can?

Following your induction, you're free to book the sessions as you would our regular classes. We've already launched many of our Equipment Pilates classes on our timetable page and are delivering a huge number of one-to-one and one-to-two sessions too.

We're really excited about this new dimension that we're bringing to Total Therapy Studios, and we hope you will be too. We hope we've covered everthing on this page, however if you have any questions please give us a call, or send us a quick email.
