TOTAL THERAPY STUDIOS

Horsham’s wellness, therapy and corrective exercise centre
UPDATED: 6TH DECEMBER

Timetables

We started classes at Total Therapyas an extension of our therapy provision, and since then have grown into one of the largest providers of Pilates and movement classes in the country. All of our instructors are mutli-disciplined and each bring their wide knowledge and skills to every class based on the latest research in their field.

Classes sizes are small (maximum of 10) and are categorised to suit specific need and goals. Our online questionnaire and assessment (if required) fits you to the class that will benefit you the most. This could be if you're recovering from surgery or injury, recurring pain or stiffness, or just want to learn how to get the best out of your overworked - or underword - mind and body.

We aim to bridge that gap between exercise and medicine in an environment that feels like neither!

If you'd like to access our online booking system

You can log onto Pike 13, our online class management system by following this link. Please note, it's only available to clients who have already registered with us, and have spoken to us about doing classes with us. Therefore, if you're not an existing client and would like to take part in classes then please complete our questionnaire so you can join us.

All about our classes
All of our classes take place in small groups, with a maximum of ten people in our Denne Parade studio, and eight in our site in the Carfax. We keep class sizes small - even in our online classes - so we can ensure that we're able to provide a level of correction to make sure you're completing all exercises correctly. This individual focus is what makes our classes so effective, and why we have become the leader in the local area. Naturally at the moment we have a robust set of CoronaVirus control measures in place, so you can be assured you're also completing your sessions in the safety way.

We have an online booking platform which allows our clients to manage their attendence, and have a full visibility to their schedule and class pass balance.

Remember, if you haven't already joined us and would like to take part, then simply complete our questionnaire so you can join us.

Our Equipment Studio
We're also keen to share the group sessions that are currently scheduled in our new equipment studio, which is in Denne Parade.

Please note we're adding more sessions all the time, so if you don't see a time you would like, then just get in contact and ask! The classes shown are managed in the same way as all of our regular classes: you can use our online booking system, and pay for them with an equipment studio class pack. We also have one-to-one and two-to-one sessions available, and with our instructors these can be scheduled at a time to suit you across the week. To arrange these you can simply get in contact with our reception team - or the instructor directly - and arrange the session.
THE RIGHT CLASS FOR YOU

Class descriptions
With all of our classes, the most important thing for us is that it's right for you. We've shared some information about our classes below, and if you're new to us then we can expand further when we call to discuss you joining us. As always, if you're looking for more information, then just get in contact.

Pilates
Pilates is a series of non impact exercises designed by Joseph Pilates to improve strength, stability, balance, posture and movement awareness (proprioception). Its basic principles reply on finding and connecting to the core structures of the body (the torso) to rebalance the load and biomechanical stresses on the body created by poor movement habits.

The level of a class dictates the speed and difficulty of the session, with lower levels suited to beginners or those with more sedentary lifestyles, or poor body awareness. These sessions are not suitable for people with Acute or Chronic Pain or movement dysfunction.

Clinical Pilates
This is a form of movement therapy based on the principles of Joseph Pilates repertoire and combines this with the latest research in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, rehabilitation, exercise physiology biomechanics and pain management. These classes are directed by instructors with a clinical background and exercises are adjusted and modified to suit each individual based on their clinical needs. These classes often utilise trigger point balls, prickle balls and foam rollers to release or restore muscles and connective tissues.

Class levels are based on severity of condition or movement dysfunction, with lower levels suited to those with acute pain, pre and post surgery, injury or with clinical movement impairments, and higher levels suited to those recovering from injury and prevent recurrence of pain.
Trigger-point Pilates
Combines Joseph Pilates repertoire and the principles of myofascial release and trigger point therapy to release tension and stiffness in the muscles throughout the class. The class utiliises soft prickle balls which help release tight muscles by targeting the connective tissue that surrounds every muscle and joint to restructure its pliability and function. These classes are suitable for all, but not for those in acute pain or with clinical considerations.
Movement Health
Our Movement Health classes are slower corrective classes which go into more depth and explore the finer details around correct technique of breath, biomechanics, flexibility and stability which when dysfunctional contribute to poor movement patterns and recurring pain. These classes incorporate principles and exercises from Pilates, Yoga and other movement based therapies and are suitable at lower levels for people with chronic pain, muscle tightness, pelvic floor issues, joint and spinal stiffness, and at higher levels for those wanting to improve ease of movement and performance either in daily life or sport.
Animal Flow
Animal Flow is a ground based movement class based on the 7 primal movement patterns of Twist, Push, Pull, Bend, Squat, Lunge, and Gait that develop in utero and infancy (and get lost in adulthood) and draw from elements from yoga, pilates gymnastics, Parkour, hand balancing, circus art, body weight training and break dancing. This super fun class is designed to gently load the different body joints and move in all three different planes (sagittal, frontal and transverse) to get a physical and neurological response that improves strength, mobility, flexibility, stability and coordination without taxing your central nervous system like a heavy lifting session will. This class is suitable for beginners to animal flow, but not suitable for beginners to exercise or those with acute pain.
Active Yoga
Active Yoga - using the principles of hatha, vinyasa and yoga flow, and for optimum strength, mobility and flexibility - suitable for those wanting to build on their yoga practice.

Still Yoga
Active Yoga - using the principles of hatha, vinyasa and yoga flow, and for optimum strength, mobility and flexibility - suitable for those wanting to build on their yoga practice.

Fundamental Yoga
Fundamental Yoga – Based on the principles of Hatha yoga for to those wanting to go back to basics and learn or fine tune the asana’s (postures) and the practices of breath, and meditation. These classes focus on technique, correction and awareness and are suitable for beginners and improvers alike.

Slow Yoga
Slow yoga – based on the practice of Yin Yoga for muscle release, posture re-setting and relaxation - suitable for anyone wanting to release muscle tension and improve flexibility.

Subtle Yoga
This is based on the principles of somatic movement and hatha yoga for a softer yoga practice incorporating breathwork and relaxation - suitable for people with sedentary lifestyles, chronic pain and or stiffness and stress and anxiety.
